The Swift Ranch Chronicles — Episode Four: First Contact
Annye and Rusty finally arrive at Swift Ranch. The fence held, the trailer backed in, and two fluffy Highlands claimed their new home.

The trailer backed up to the corral, and for a moment, everything held still.
Months of planning. Fence posts set. Panels secured. Water troughs filled. The pasture stood ready — waiting for the animals it was built to hold.
Annye was first.
She hopped off the trailer without much encouragement, hooves hitting Tennessee dirt like she'd done this a hundred times. No hesitation. No nervousness. Just a slow, deliberate survey of her new domain — checking sight lines, testing the air, evaluating everything with a critical eye behind her yellow brindle fringe.
This'll do, her posture said. For now.
Rusty took his time.
He stood at the trailer's edge, cautious, weighing his options. The new smells. The open space. The unfamiliar ground below.
Then he let out a MOO that echoed off the tree line — loud, declarative, like he was announcing himself to every creature within a half-mile radius.
And hopped off to join her.
Two Highland cattle. Fluffy, horned, and finally home.
The fence held. The panels did their job. The cows settled in like they'd been planning this all along.
First contact complete.
The saga continues.
